Best Practices by Material Types

Aria Vent has a solution for every single surface material on the market. Our innovation is that we created a single vent that you customize to match your surface.

We provide the hardware components of the vent, you do the customizing.
We have a few different models that cater to different applications (floors, walls, ceilings), materials, and installing skill level. You will find that our models are pretty flexible - they can be used across an array of materials and applications. This is a guide to best practices, as categorized by material types. So you can decide what will work best for your project!

How to build up the tray?
The tray is the centre piece of the vent where you will cut a piece of your material and place it inside to complete the “custom look”. The depth of the tray is 7/8” (3/4” for Framed Floor Vent [Lite]). We did this so that you can customize the same vent with any material thickness. However, in most cases your surface material will not be 7/8” thick. You will need to build up the material with a filler piece so it sits nice and flat inside the tray. Your filler piece can be pretty much anything, the key thing is that it must sit completely flat inside the tray. We suggest using: plywood, leftover pieces of hard material (tile/hardwood/vinyl/cement board, etc.).

What Adhesive to use?
You can use any adhesive specifically made for your material. If you would like to re-use the vent in the future (with another material), you can also use the 2 holes at the bottom of the tray to screw in the material from the back (in this case, you will need to use plywood as your filler piece).

Grout
You should still grout any centre seams of tile inside the tray. It is not necessary to grout around the perimeter of the tile inside the tray, unless there are wide gaps. Use your discretion.

Installing Framed OG Floor Vent [Luxe] or Framed Floor Vent [Lite] on Wall / Ceiling surfaces
On the lateral sides of the vent body you will find two holes on either side. Remove the tray from the body, so you can access these holes with a drill. Place the body into the wall or ceiling duct opening. Use 4 screws (not included) to fasten the body into substrate of the wall, using the 4 lateral holes on the body. You will need to drill these screws on an angle. Pop tray back into the body and continue with regular install instructions.

DRYWALL

If drywall has not been finished: Flush Wall Vent [Luxe]
If you are a DIYer: Framed OG Floor Vent [Luxe] or Framed Floor Vent [Lite]

Using Framed OG Floor Vent [Luxe] / Framed Floor Vent [Lite] on Drywall Surfaces

If your drywall has already been completed, and you are not a drywall professional, we recommend using the Framed OG Floor Vent [Luxe] and Framed Floor Vent [Lite]. These models will have a visible frame that sits on top of the drywall. You can re-paint this frame to match your wall surface. Make sure you are using paint that is graded for either ABS plastic (for Framed Floor Vent [Lite]) or solid steel (for Framed OG Floor Vent [Luxe]). *Aria Vent does not warrant the paint on re-painted vents. To customize the centre tray, you can either use a piece of drywall or a piece of MDF. We suggest MDF because drywall can have frayed edges. MDF cuts cleaner and is easier to work with. Paint or wallpaper the material in the inner tray to match the surrounding wall.

*To mount these models on wall and ceiling surfaces see above instructions.
